The Zen garden was designed by eminent garden designer Charles Chesshire to complement the conversion of the barn into a space for creative, artistic and holistic pursuits. The idea was to create an outdoor space that would reflect the peace and creativity being experienced in this space.
The original garden was a roughly formal garden punctuated by large boxwood bushes surrounded by tired and overgrown herbaceous plants. Some of these boxwood bushes were moved to create form and a degree of informality to contrast with the frame of yew hedges.
